that Ajaxian post. Some good stuff :)

Hosted mode will be much more useful when the rendering engine can be
chosen, so that you don't have to do a full compile/browse to check your code
in different browsers.
But this is only wishful thinking...

Compile time is starting to get frustrating when working with GWT. I work
with GWT 1.5 on a daily basis and compile time time has really slowed down
development. Sure there is always hosted mode but constantly working in hosted
mode has really come back to bite my team in the past where bugs have appeared
in the compiled code that did not manifest in hosted mode (due to hosted mode
not doing compilation/optimization.) Tweaks exist to lower compilation time but
it means compiling for a single browser. The bugs up on issue tracker about
this include http://code.google.com/p/google-web...
(marked as a dup, but I disagree with that) and http://code.google.com/p/google-web...

I think the powerpoint wasn't so much an issue, maybe the igoogle /
opensocial demo wasn't the best way to impress the crowd with what GWT can do
for them.
IMHO it would have been a better approach to demo how easy it is to create and
debug a rich business-type webapplication in minutes in Java.
IMHO you went a little too fast over the kitchensink and GWT-Ext showcase
demos. You showed the impressive results but not enough of what it takes for
the developer to get there besides opensocial/igoogle. GWT can be a productive
tool for much more than that but I believe the crowd did't got that message, at
least not the few people I spoke. Too bad... :(
Kudos to you and Dick Wall for standing up there, it was fun :)

This is absurd. The Google Web Toolkit Getting Started page explains this
well enough. Normally this is the best blog for GWT related happenings
